The story of the windows project

Since 2017, BRAA has sponsored the creation and installation of window art at several locations in the New River Valley. BRAA artists and community members supplied the creative spirit for these unique works of art.

In 2017, the Alexander Black House on Draper Road in Blacksburg happily hosted the first assortment of windows.

In 2018, local artists created two dozen windows for the lawn and garden of the Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Regional Art Center on S. Pepper Street in Christiansburg.

In 2019, another collection of windows was installed at the Hahn Horticulture Garden on campus at Virginia Tech.

The window collection of Dave Angle and Diane Relf supports the public art window exhibitions. Artists get to select a free window to decorate.  Dave and Diane build the BRAA-funded supports and install them.

Their generous offer of time, labor and old windows goes above and beyond anything we could have asked for.

What a great group effort!

We offer our admiration and thanks to Diane, Dave, Sue Farrar of the Montgomery Museum, Rhonda Morgan of the Black House, the staff at the Hahn Garden and all the participating artists willing to think outside the norm for these exhibitions.
