Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA) has an exhibit of fiber art at the Montgomery Museum of Art and History entitled, “Wordplay and Puns with a Whimsical Streak.”  BRAA member Paula Golden is a participating artist.

The Montgomery Museum of Art & History  has a variety of exhibits currently including an art and history exhibit with the theme of Coal Mining.  Several other BRAA members including Sue Hossack, Matt Gentry, Judy Niehaus, and Aileen Fletcher will have art in this exhibit.

NEW MURAL at 11th & Moorman, NW!

Swing by 510 11th Street NW, Roanoke ,VA, 24017 to see Roanoke's newest mural. Created by our Roanoke Valley Sister Cities International Artist in Residence Thiago Valdi, and Muralist in Residence Jon Murrill, the work was made possible through a partnership with Roanoke Valley Sister Cities International, Roanoke College Olin Hall Galleries, the Joanne Leonhardt Cassullo Center for Art and Humble Hustle. The NEW RIVER ART BIENNIAL at the Floyd Center for the Arts NOW!

BRAA is proud to be a sponsor of the New River Art Biennial.  This is a collaborative project with the Fine Arts Center of the New River Valley and the Floyd Center for the Arts.  It is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and has become a popular regional exhibit that many of our members enjoy participating in.  This year 10 BRAA members were accepted into the show!

Open to all artists residing in the United States

Show Dates: February 27-March 29, 2024
Entry Deadline: Thursday, January 18, 2024 by 5 pm

Artists are asked to submit works depicting their interpretation of "Our American Soul". What makes us American? What gives our country its 'soul'? When the words are combined, does it evoke a person, a place, a feeling, or all the above? How does your artwork showcase the essence of "Our American Soul?" This call is open to all mediums, including any form of 2D or 3D work. The show will be juried by artist Robert Yi and there will be $500 in cash prizes awarded.

Requirements: All media accepted. Entry fee: $40 for up to 2 digital images — jpg or png format only (minimum 960 pixels on the longest side)
Location: Gallery Underground (The Shops at 2100 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA 22202)

  • Glencoe Mansion Gift Shop is seeking handcrafted artisans, makers, and crafters. We are now accepting applications for hand-made and local goods. Help us spread the word by tagging your favorite local crafter/vendor in the comments. If you are interested in selling your items at our gift shop, please email arts@glencoemansion.org

  • Signal Cabinet & Utility Box Public Art Project : The Town of Blacksburg Public Arts Committee is seeking design submissions from artists who are local, regional, or familiar with the Blacksburg area. Designs will be installed on utility boxes or traffic signal cabinets at selected intersections around town as public art, beginning in summer 2024. Submissions are accepted via email and must be submitted by Friday, December 15, 2023, to be considered by the selection committee. Before submitting a design for consideration, interested artists are highly encouraged to visit https://letstalkblacksburg.org/publicarts-utilitybox to learn more about the project details and submission information.
