Join the team of Plein Air artists on JULY 9 to paint the gardens of the New River Valley

26th Annual NRV Garden Tour

A Benefit for the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library

Date: Saturday, July 9, 2022

Where: One of six gardens on this year's NRV Garden Tour

Time: Vistors - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Artists - 8:45 to 1:30 PM (you are welcome to stay longer)

Contact: Teri Hoover   Email: crystalirisphotos@gmail.com

  • Locations are assigned and the address will be emailed to you by June 14.

  • Artists pay their own way. Tickets - $12 in advance, $15 at the gardens.

  • It is best if each artist works in the assigned garden from 9:15 AM to 1:30 PM. The coordinator will consider special requests for different times.

  • Contact the coordinator, Teri Hoover if you wish to preview the garden you will be working in.

  • Bring a chair, easel, art supplies, food, camera, hat, bug spray, etc. as you need for creating and comfort.

  • Arrive early to find good parking, talk to the garden liaison, meet the owners, and locate access to a bathroom and water.

  • Be ready with a sunny disposition. There will be many people interested in what you are doing so be ready to chat and tell them all about yourself and your art.

  • The artist is not expected to give/sell their work to the owner of the garden, nor is the garden owner expected to buy an artist's work.

  • It is greatly appreciated if each artist will have one piece that can be framed and shown in the Blacksburg Library from May 1- July 1, 2023.

This is an opportunity for a bit of painting, a chance to build connections between artists and their community, and to raise funds for our libraries.

About The New River Garden Tour

Each July the annual New River Valley Garden Tour showcases innovative, specialty, and beautiful private gardens in the New River Valley. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library with the cooperation of the New River Valley Master Gardeners’ Association. This event is a fundraiser to benefit the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library (MFRL).

Tickets will be available at each garden on the day of the event AND on June 1 at MFRL Libraries—Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Jessie Peterman, and Meadowbrook—as well as at Salem and Radford Libraries.  June 1 tickets will also be available at the website www.newrivervalleygardentour.org
